In many communities, a patient's X-ray, ultrasound or CT scan travels further than the patient can — burned to a CD, carried by taxi, or sent as a phone photo — before a specialist in the city ever sees it. Reports come back slowly, quality is lost along the way, and privacy is left to chance.

Health information is the most protected personal information under South African law (POPIA), and we treat it that way: explicit patient consent, South African data residency, encrypted storage and access controls, and legal review completed before the first real patient scan is stored. The pilot starts small — one clinic, one specialist link, a defined trial period — and grows on results.
Programme terms, including data-protection agreements and clinical governance, are developed together with each partner as part of the pilot.
